About the shop

R&Beans is owned and run by Shahidah and Dez. Opened August 17, 2024. 215 Avenel St, Avenel, NJ 07001.

Before the shop, they spent weekends in cafes. In 2020 a home purchase fell through, and they used the savings to open a coffee shop instead.

They built out the space themselves and worked through permit delays. The shop opened on August 17, 2024.

Since then the shop has hosted pop-ups and live sets, and held a block party for its second anniversary in August 2026.

Every cup is handed over with a short message written on it.
